International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country-Western Dance Clubs (IAGLCWDC)
The International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country-Western Dance Clubs or IAGLCWDC, is an association of gay/lesbian country-western dance clubs from around the world, created in 1993 in order to promote country-western dancing in the greater gay/lesbian community. There are currently 28 member organizations. The Sundance Association for Country-Western Dancing joined the IAGLCWDC in 2001.
The membership of the IAGLCWDC meets at annual conventions held at various locations throughout the world. At an IAGLCWDC convention there will usually be:
- Dance parties, dance exhibitions, dance workshops, and dance competitions
- IAGLCWDC official business meetings: board meetings, committee meetings, and a general membership meeting
- IAGLCWDC member-learning events: forums and seminars hosted by IAGLCWDC members and invited guest speakers.
Did you know - if you are a member of the Sundance Association, then you are also a member of the IAGLCWDC? We encourage our members (or anyone from our local community) to attend the IAGLCWDC conventions and have a great time meeting and dancing with folks from all over the world!
The next IAGLCWDC convention is the Emerald City Hoedown, May 23-27, 2013, in Seattle, Washington.
So how do you pronounce IAGLCWDC? There are some who call it "I-A-Mouthful," but the phrase that seems to have stuck is "Iggle-Wiggle." And there you have it.
