This Week: Sundance Saloon Online Live Sunday, April 11 • 6:00 - 9:00 pm PDT
Sundance Saloon offers Sunday night live-streaming lessons during the coronavirus shutdown! This Sunday's live-stream will present a standard beginning-level dance, and a classic intermediate dance.
On April 11 we being broadcasting direct from Sundance Saloon. We also celebrate Sundance Saloon's 23rd anniversary on April 11, along with multiple other events all week. And Sundance Saloon Online Live will allow limited in-person attendance!
Sundance Saloon presents Sunday night live-streaming lessons from 6:00 to 9:00 pm PST during the coronavirus shutdown! The general format is as follows, and subject to modification:
6:00 pm - beginning line dance lesson
7:00 pm - intermediate line dance lesson
8:00 pm - review of the previous week's intermediate line dance
8:15 pm - line dance mini-marathon
The beginning level line dance lesson is aimed at complete novices who have never line dances before.
We recommend creating a clear space of 10 x 10 feet if you can, or a minimum of 6 x 6 feet if you take tiny steps.
To participate with live commenting, you'll need to sign in with a gmail account.
Use a computer or tablet, and prop it up and position it in one place. Do not hold your viewing device in your hand, or you will not be oriented correctly for much of the dance. Even better, watch through your large-screen TV if you can.
The review of the previous week's line dance will be closer to a walk-through than an actual lesson. If you missed that week's lesson, you can still view the archived live-stream.
YouTube Live vs. Zoom
We're now broadcasting simultaneously on Zoom and YouTube Live, so you can have your choice of how to attend remotely! Zoom is great because it allows us to see each other and be with each other virtually. However, the video and audio quality in YouTube Live is likely to be better.
Please keep yourself muted, unless specifically asked to unmute by the host.
If you need to communicate with us, or the group, use the CHAT function. If you have a question for the instructor, we will have a chat monitor who will relay your question by voice.
We encourage you to have your video ON. This makes it more fun for everyone, and helps us establish a community. Adjust your webcam so we can see you dance.
If you are new to Zoom, we recommend you practice with a test meeting.
USING YOUTUBE LIVE
If you need to communicate with us, or the group, use the CHAT function. (You will need a Google/Gmail account.) If you have a question for the instructor, we will have a chat monitor who will relay your question by voice.
If YouTube Live disrupts our broadcast, which happens occasionally, check back to this page first to see if we have a back-up plan, or join us on Zoom.
In-person Attendance - NEW!
Starting on April 11 Sundance Saloon Online Live will be broadcasting directly from Sundance Saloon itself, and we will be able to host up to ten on-site dancers! If you wish, you may come for only the beginning session (5:45 - 7:00) or the intermediate session (7:00 - 9:00), but we encourage you to attend both.
Pre-registration is required. Registration opens at 12:00 noon each Monday.
You will have a 15-minute window to enter (5:45-6:00 if attending the first or both sessions, or 7:00-7:15 if attending the second session only).
Masks and social distancing are required and strictly enforced.
You may bring your own non-alcoholic beverage into the club.
We are creating as safe an environment as possible. We will have multiple roof fans bringing fresh air into the club, no matter how cold it gets. In addition we have a powerful HEPA 13 air filtration unit for the main ballroom.
Registration for in-person attendance begins at 12:00 noon on Monday.
No registration is needed to attend online.
Donating To The Sundance Association
There is no fee for the live-stream lessons and dancing. However, we ask that you remember that our usual admission fee to Sundance Saloon is $7, and that this primary source of income is lost to us during this time. If you would like to donate, we have two different funds to consider:
COVID-19 Relief Fund - for donations intended to offset our losses during the coronavirus shutdown, ideal for that quick $7 donation.
