We will have four rooms of workshops running simultaneously during the day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Workshops are open to all registrants of the Sundance Reno Round-Up. (Please wear your badge!) Day passes are available for $40 (and it's the same price whether you take one or five workshops). Day passes are not valid for the evening's dance.
"SF Style" vs. "Progressive" Two-Step
Most of the world begins on the quick steps of the two-step (QQSS). For some unexplained reason, gay clubs in the West tend to start their two-step on the slow steps (SSQQ). Furthermore, unlike in the rest of the country, turns tend to occur on the slow-slow (with swing-like rock-steps on the quick-quick). This SSQQ variation has no official name, so we just call it “San Francisco Style.”
If you are a visitor unaccustomed to our way of two-stepping, you’ll want to check out the “San Francisco-style Two-Step” workshops (SSQQ for QQSSers) on Friday. We'll also have a QQSS for SSQQers workshop. And remember: not only will you have to ask whether your partner leads or follows, but whether you’re going to start on the slow step or the quick step!
Workshop Schedule
You can view the dance workshop schedule on our Schedule Page. Shortcut links are listed below:
Our regular offerings of workshops cover a wide range of topics for all levels to suit all of our attendees, but the classes tend to be quite large. Our Premium Workshops are designed to take you to another level in a more intimate setting: these workshops will be restricted to no more than sixteen dancers (typically eight leads and eight follows).
There is a nominal additional fee of $12 per workshop ($12.80 including service charge). You must also be registered for the Sundance Reno Round-Up or World Gay Rodeo Finals, or purchase a workshop day pass on-site. And one final caveat: if the lead/follow balance is particularly poor, folks may be asked to switch or may not be able to take the class (with refunds given).
Please note that for our regular non-premium workshops there is no additional fee if you are registered for the Sundance Reno Round-Up or WGRF, or have a day pass, and no advance reservations are necessary.

Lindsey Wilson
Lindsey Wilson
Lindsey Wilson (Seattle) fell in love with country dancing in 2022 through Rain Country Dance, where they are now an instructor. For them, dance is more than movement — it's a powerful form of resistance, expression, and joy, especially within queer community. They run 253Step, a queer country dance night, and organize events with their performance group, the Reverse Cowboys. In 2024, Lindsey began to write choreography, creating dances that embrace all skill levels.

Sheba Thone
Sheba Thone

She can frequently be found line dancing in public whenever she “hears” a dance she knows. She line dances as often as she can, and when she’s not line dancing, she’s wishing she was line dancing.

Lee.
